CLASSROOM VIDEO BANK AND DISCUSSION RESOURCES
The website is a rich resource for teacher educators who are supporting teachers to infuse student discourse into their instruction. It provides guidance on how to get started in the classroom, on the benefits of academically productive talk, and on subject area commonalities and differences. Classroom videos that span grade levels and content areas serve as a resource for teaching.
A companion resource includes targeted moves for encouraging discussion in a wide variety of contexts. While relevant at any time in a teacher’s career, the moves may be particularly useful for teaching pre-service and early career teachers.
Videos from the APT website are available on TalkBank, a site designed for researchers to access video and collaborate on research that involves analyzing talk. The site provides access to the coding of project researchers, coding instruments used by the project team, the opportunity to both comment on that coding, and to offer one’s own coding. Guidance for accessing TalkBank can be found on the APT website.
