In my role as a Coaching Director in the Middle School Quality Initiative, I have collaborated with SERP to support the schools in our network with literacy in the content areas. My team can rely on SERP to provide materials that support teachers in developing academic language with their students in every classroom. We have also collaborated with SERP to test new units of study aligned to the New York State science scope and sequence and the Next Generation Science Standards. The schools that have taken on the SERP units found clear connections between the work they are doing with students and the hallmarks of Advanced Literacies.
