Joe Wyatt
Joe Wyatt is Chancellor Emeritus of Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee, having served as Chancellor and Chief Executive Officer for eighteen years. Much of his earlier career has focused on computer science and systems, beginning at General Dynamics Corporation in 1956, continuing in Symbiotic International, Inc. (a company he c0-founded in 1965) and then at the University of Houston and Harvard. In 1976, he was appointed Vice-President for Administration at Harvard and was named Chancellor at Vanderbilt in 1982. He holds degrees in mathematics from Texas Christian University and The University of Texas.
Mr. Wyatt is a patentee in computer system design and computer networking, a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and a member of Sigma Xi, Beta Gamma Sigma and Phi Beta Kappa. He was a founding director of the Massachusetts Technology Development Corporation, a public venture capital group which has financed a large number of successful technology-based companies in Massachusetts, and is former Chairman of the Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce.
At present, he is a Director of several public companies including Ingram Micro, El Paso and Hercules. He is Chairman of the Board of the Universities Research Association in Washington D.C., and is a Principal of the Washington Advisory Group
